Building for the future at Arsenal
January 2008London Borough of Islington appointed Millbridge as Project Manager for Arsenal Football Club's flagship Football in the Community Football Foundation facility at Rosemary Gardens.
This followed on from the success of the Whittington Park floodlight, third generation synthetic full size football pitch refurbishment. The project was, in principal, funded by Barclays Bank but in partnership with London Borough of Islington and Arsenal Football Club. £850,000 has been spent replacing the existing redgra pitch which now includes floodlighting, a new changing room complex and providing lighting within the park.
The popular Rosemary Gardens is within a conservation area and is well known locally for its historical past which used to be the site of an old lead mill surrounded by residential housing.
Arsenal first team manager, Arsene Wenger and former England cricketer, Mark Ramprakash, officially opened the new facility on 29th November 2007 with Arsene overseeing some local children training on the new pitch.
