Kingston Hospital Case Study

Client/Project:Kingston Hospital
Sector:Healthcare
Services:Project Management
Project Brief:

We were instructed to project manage the construction of the new Surbiton Health Centre, plus a new two-form entry primary school, on the site of the former Surbiton Community Hospital in Surrey, exploiting the complimentary opportunities the two different building types presented.

The new health centre includes four GP practices on the ground floor, arranged around a landscaped courtyard, with waiting areas and a pharmacy. The first-floor facilities include an urgent care centre, therapy rooms with a gym, general and specialist consulting rooms, diagnostics, minor ops, a dental suite and general supporting accommodation including reception, waiting and staff areas.

Due to the site being peppered with preservation order protected trees and located in the Oakhill Conservation Area, surrounded by buildings of ‘Townscape Merit’, we had to sensitively handle the site to achieve minimal tree loss while providing new vehicular and strong pedestrian links into the wider area.

As a result, the project achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating in terms of sustainability.
